In 2008, Mateo Duran rented a 400-square-foot loft off the Morgan Avenue L stop, bought a used HVX200, and shot his first brand job — a 60-second spot for a small coffee roaster in Williamsburg. There was no agency, no producer, no client services department. There was a director, a camera, and a question he kept asking: why does so much brand footage look like it was made by people who don't care about the brand?
Seventeen years later, that question is still the studio's through-line. The loft became a 6,000-square-foot soundstage at 240 Kent Avenue. The single camera became a fully owned package of RED V-Raptors and Sony Venice 2s. The director became one of twelve on a roster where every frame — from the first strategy call to the final color grade — is owned in-house by the same team that pitched the work.
